Two Georgian mahogany knife boxes, both having serpentine fronts and conforming hinged lids, 1 with compass star inlay to top and underside of lid and fitted interior, 14 1/2" H x 9"W x 10 1/2" D; the other with compass star inlay to underside of lid and line inlay to edges, lacking fitted interior, 14 1/2" H x 8 5/8" W x 11"D. Both likely English, circa 1800. Condition: 1st item: grungy finish to top, some areas of missing edge molding to corners and lid edges, 1/2" chip to lower right front corner, scattered abrasions and shrinkage. 2nd item: grungy finish to top, crack running full length of slanted front of lid, 7"L area of veneer has come off but is retained; losses to line inlay at the area of lost lid veneer, 1 pin holding escutcheon to frame is missing.
