Tiger maple one drawer stand or small writing table, plain figured cherry or maple top over a single dovetailed drawer with poplar secondary wood; plain sides; tiger maple figuring on drawer front, back of case, and on the four legs. Legs are round with incised rings at top of mid-section, tapering to a narrow foot. 27 3/4" H x 29 3/4" W x 22" D. Possibly Southern, circa 1840. Provenance: estate of James R. (and Mary B.) Packard, Huntsville, Alabama. Condition: Some scattered shrinkage cracks to top, sides and back, longest 6" L; repair to one drawer side covering dovetails on that side, some minor staining to top and inside drawer.
