Southern School, early 20th century oil on canvas view of St. Michael's Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Signed, partially illegibly, Andre –ack, lower right. Backing board contains taped note with old inscription to previous owner from "Cleova and the Artist." Molded giltwood frame. Canvas – 19"H x 14"W. Frame – 24" H x 20"W. Circa 1940.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Buckling to canvas, particularly at the lower edge. Canvas has been laid down on a backing board, with outer edges of canvas adhered to the board. Needs removal and re-stretching. Grime throughout. Some wear and surface losses to frame.
