Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973) etching in black ink on laid paper entitled Flutiste grec et Danseuese and depicting a nude, male flute-player in distinctive headgear and a nude female dancer. From the book La Celestine by Fernando de Rojas published by Atelier Crommelynck, Paris, 1971. Plate 169 of Series 347. Unsigned. Dated in the plate, lower right. With La Celestine watermark, lower center. Inscribed in pencil en verso "34973 Picasso La Celestine BL 1649 307/350 Acte XV." This information is repeated on sticker affixed to backing. Ref.: Cramer Books 149. Housed under plexiglass in a gilt wood frame with ivory mat and French line. Plate: 3 1/2" H x 4 13/16" W. Sheet: 8 1/4 " H x 6 1/8" W. Frame: 22 3/4" H x 24 6/16" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. With one spot of foxing to right edge of plate mark plus a few spots en verso. Hinge mounted with archival tape. Frame with negligible abrasions and losses.
