Swiss brass cylinder 10 tune music box, housed in a rosewood case having an ebonized trim with floral instrument inlay to the lid, line inlay, and painted foliate spray with heart, anchor, and cross to the case front. Glass door houses cylinder frame marked with the serial number #805 and complete steel comb and is flanked by the winding arm and Change, Repeat/ Stop, and Play levers. Paper label with printed illustrations attached to inner lid lists titles of songs, style, and composer. 6" H x 23 1/4" W x 9" D. Late 19th/Early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Michael and Peggy Mahoney, by descent from the historic homes of Clarkland Farm at Bryan's Station and Cherrycote, Lexington, Kentucky.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Outer case with light general wear. Inner lid with scratching, losses to paper label, tape repairs to paper, and grime. Music mechanism functioning at time of inspection.
