Two (2) Gus Baker (American/Tennessee, 1922-1994) watercolor paintings. 1st item: Landscape painting depicting a narrow island with water in the foreground and more water visible behind the trees, and a treeline with darkening sky in the background. Signed "Gus Baker" lower right. Narrow ebonized and giltwood frame with a linen mat. Sight: 16" H x 21" W. Frame: 24 1/2" H x 29" W. 2nd item: Abstract watercolor painting rendered in shades of yellow, coral/red, blue, gray and brown on a white ground. Wood frame with brown linen mat, old unrelated label en verso. Sight: 23 1/2" H x 17 1/2" W. Frame: 29 1/2" H x 23 1/2" W. Circa 1960.
PROVENANCE: Private Middle Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: 1st item: Painting with couple of dark inclusions or errant paint drops lower left, overall very good condition. Frame – a couple of small chips and spots of wear. 2nd item: Painting with light foxing and toning, overall good condition. Frame in fair to poor condition with scratches and staining to mat.
