Annie Barrows Shepley (New York, 1856-1943) oil on canvas painting depicting an elderly woman attired in a black dress and holding a fan, seated with her arm resting on a multicolored textile, in front of a gradient background. Signed "Shepley-1892" upper left. Housed in an ornate antique, possibly original giltwood and gesso frame with acanthus leaf and s-scroll decoration. Sight: 21 1/2" H x 15 1/2" W. Framed: 39 1/2" H x 29 1/2" W.
PROVENANCE: Mark Anthony Grant Estate, Clarksville, Tennessee.
