Three paintings by Thomas Campbell (Tennessee, 1834-1914). 1st item: Oil on canvas of a harbor scene with fishermen and sailboats at wharf and buildings in background. Canvas has some paint loss and a diagonal crease along left top corner. Gold frame with molded leaf design. Unsigned. Sight: 7 1/2" H x 10" W, Framed: 12 3/4" H x 14" W. 2nd item: Oil on board of wooden boat anchored in water, signed "T. Campbell" lower left. Name of Campbell relative, Blanche Bamberg, in pencil on reverse. Losses to piece at top right corner, left top center, left top corner. 7" H x 10" W unframed. 3rd item: Watercolor of Venice with gondolas in foreground and San Giorgio Maggiore and palazzos in background, signed "T.C." lower right corner. Foxing scattered throughout and along border. Plain black frame. Sight 2 3/4" H x 7 1/2" W, Framed 8"H x 12"W. Campbell frequently traveled in Europe and painted detailed rendering of figures and architecture. Provenance: Knoxville, TN collection, descended through the Bamberg estate, family of Thomas Campbell's second wife. Tennessee, late 19th, early 20th century. Condition: 1st item: Canvas has some paint loss and a diagonal crease along left top corner. 2nd item: Losses to piece at top right corner, left top center, left top corner. 3rd item: Foxing scattered throughout and along border.
