West (Ohio, 1837-1913) oil on canvas paintings. 1st item: Painting depicting two dogs, one brown (laying) and one black and white (seated), harnessed to a green wooden cart on two wheels containing straw and three jugs with a blue-green pigeon in the foreground catching the attention of the brown dog and an archway in the background. 2nd item: Painting depicting two dogs, one white with black spots (laying) and one brown and white (standing), harnessed to a green wooden cart on two wheels containing an upturned basket and foliage with a green bowl in front of the brown dog and a tan wall in the background. Both signed and dated, lower left corner, “P B West 1883.” Printed label on both with artist biographical information and pencil inscriptions, en verso. Both housed in matching modeled giltwood frames with acanthus leaf design. Sights: 13 1/2” H x 17 1 /2” W. Framed: 24” H x 28” W x 2 3/4” D.

CONDITION: Both in overall good condition with craquelure and some missing portions on gilt wood frames, largest 1/8” H x 1/2” W.
