Whitney Leland (Tennessee, b. 1945), two abstract watercolors on paper. 1st item: Untitled, dated en verso "3/2/71" with other information partially covered by tape. Sight: 9 5/8" H x 6 3/4" W, wooden frame: 19 1/4" H x 16" W. 2nd item: Untitled, signature not visible. Sight: 17 1/2" H x 11 1/2" w. Gold metal frame: 30 1/4" H x 24 1/4" W. The Knoxville Museum of Art writes of the artist: "Leland has achieved a national reputation for his vibrant organic abstractions. For more than four decades, he has explored the process of painting with great discipline by restricting his imagery to a limited set of variables€tangled, symmetrically arranged tentacles of color. Leland is one of the earliest graduates of the University of TennesseeÃs art program." Note: Proceeds to benefit the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Condition: Overall very good condition.
