Reuben Le Grande Johnston (American, 1851-1918) oil on canvas landscape painting depicting four cows, one standing as the others lay in a field with a tree line visible in the background with a yellow luminist sky. Signed " R. L. Johnston" lower right. Housed in an original Rococo-style giltwood frame. Sight: 17 3/4" H x 23 5/8" W. Frame: 28 3/8" H x 34 1/2" W.
CONDITION: Overall surface grime and craquelure with some tiny spots of exfoliation to paint layer. Minor warping of the canvas. Frame with minor scattered discoloration and losses to gilt, largest 3/8" H x 1/4" W.
