The Historiscope: A Panorama & History of America by Milton Bradley, c. 1880. Features 24 hand-colored lithographed scenes on a continuous panoramic strip (approx. 144 in.) mounted on two wooden dowels, contained in a theatre-themed viewing box. With various images of American historical scenes, from Native American tribes, European discovery and pioneer settling, through colonial life and the American Revolution, ending with Cornwallis’ surrender at Yorktown in 1781. With original box top and bottom (with color-printed engraved scene pasted to top), and crank key. 8 1/4 in. W x 5 1/2 in. D x 2 3/8 in. H.

Overall good age-appropriate condition, with some tape reinforcement to reverse of scroll; tape reinforcement to interior box corners; left side flap of lid missing.
