Panamint (Timbisha Shoshone) coiled basket, bottleneck form and wove from willow, Joshua tree root and devil’s claw root with repeating stair pattern to the sides and sun-burst pattern on the base. 4 3/8″ H x 6 3/4″ dia. Inyo County, California near the Nevada border, circa 1930-1940. Note: Basketmaker unattributed but in the tradition of Grandma Ness, Isobel Hanson and Mary Wrinkle. Provenance: The estate of Martha Goldsmith, Clarksville, TN. CONDITION: Very good condition.
