Marguerite Stuber Pearson (Massachusetts, 1898-1978), "Sunlit Sail," impressionist oil on board maritime painting depicting sailboats in a harbor, houses visible on the opposite shore beneath a hazy blue sky. Signed "M.S. Pearson" lower left. Titled on exhibition label for the Rockport Art Association (undated; detached). Gilt placard with artist's name and dates affixed lower center of frame. Housed in a Louis XIII style giltwood frame. Sight: 7 1/2" H x 9 1/2" W. Framed: 15 1/4" H x 17 1/4" W x 2 1/2" D.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition with craquelure. Exfoliation along left edge, with a couple of tiny flakes. A couple of other scattered tiny flakes. Frame with area of natural age shrinkage, largest 10", areas of loss to gilt, largest 2 3/4".
