American School, late 20th century, oil on board painting depicting three African American female figures seated on a curb and in folding chairs, eating from take-out containers. One of the figures is a child, talking excitedly to the two older women. Three other figures are standing in the background, as if anticipating a parade or other outdoor event to begin. Burnished cove molded contemporary frame. Signed illegibly G. S__ lower right. Sight – 19 1/2" square. Framed – 27" square.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville, Tennessee estate.
