Mahogany Hepplewhite period dining chair. Carved oval back with matching conforming back splat, attached to seat rails with a serpentine front skirt, upholstered in stripped mustard yellow and light blue upholstery, straight legs with H-style stretcher. 37 1/2" H x 19.5" W x 19" D. Probably English or American, circa 1800.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned from the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
CONDITION: Overall fair to good condition. Wear and condition commensurate with age and use including repairs to joints, separations, evidence of wormholes, scattered repairs, modern reinforcements. Horizontal stretcher appears to be a later replacement.
