Schoolgirl needlework sampler, alphabet over six rows of various motifs including two buildings (possibly schools), cornucopia, vases of flowers, man, woman with vase on head, wreaths, and fountain. Unsigned, in a later frame. 21-1/2" x 22-1/2" sight, 25" x 26" framed. Provenance: Hendersonville, TN collection; acquired by consignor from the estate auction of actress Bette Davis, oral history of being from Maine. Mid 19th century. Condition: Some overall discoloration to ground, slight fading.
