Lot 670: 2 Antique Turkmen Ersari Rugs, Ensi & Prayer Rug

1st item: Antique Ersari Turkmen Prayer rug, wool on wool. central brick red ground “mihrab” niche with gul designs, and three primary borders. Woven in red, brown, and cream colors. 3 ft. 5 in. x 2 ft. 9 in. Circa 1890-1900. 2nd item: Antique Ersari Turkmen Ensi tribal rug, traditional central cruciform design with four panels having stylized designs, within multiple borders and one lower stylized border. 4 ft. 10 in. x 4 ft. 1 in. Last qtr. 19th century.

PROVENANCE: Private Des Moines, Iowa collection.

CONDITION: Both rugs are in overall very good condition, with wear to the finished sides, losses to the fringed ends.
