Collection of Victorian and early 20th century figural sewing implements. Includes pewter or silverplated cat thread holder; brass/iron bear thread holder marked Berlin; brass pig double thread holder (thread included); thimble holder in the shape of a goat cart with mother of pearl basket and brass thimble; painted brass peacock or pheasant caddy, tail feathers lift to reveal storage for thimble or thread, standing on a pincushion "flower" on a ruffled velvet base; and a painted white metal bear pincushion marked Big Bear Lake California on side and Germany on bottom. Height of tallest item 2-3/4". Provenance: estate of Isabel Pesek, Ames, Iowa. Condition: All items with oxidation and some wear.
