1st item: After Francois Boucher (France/Italy, 1703-1770) pastoral painting depicting a young courting couple exchanging a bird and wreath of flowers. Illegibly signed in red lower right. Housed under glass in a wooden frame with gilt sight edge. 2nd item: After Francois Boucher portrait painting of Madame de Pompadour depicted on a chaise lounge with an open book. Illegibly signed to right edge. Housed under glass in a tortoiseshell and bone frame with canted corners and gilt sight edge. 3rd item: After Francois-Xavier Fabre (France, 1766-1837) portrait painting depicting the Italian dramatist Vittorio Alfieri with red sash and signet ring. Housed under glass in a giltwood frame with black velvet liner and gilt metal sight edge. 4th-5th items: Two (2) portraits in pierced gilt metal frames, including one (1) depicting Napoleon Bonaparte in military regalia and one (1) depicting Madame de Pompadour in a pink dress with floral corsage. Both signed "Kern" lower right. Housed together under glass in chrome painted wooden shadow box. Likely German. 6th item: Portrait depicting a young gentleman with fur-lined coat and thin staff. Illegibly signed to right edge. Housed under glass in a tortoiseshell and bone frame with gilt metal sight edge. Sights ranging from 3 1/8" H x 2 3/8" W (oval) to 13 1/2" H x 5 1/2" W. Frames ranging from 5 1/2" H x 4 3/4" W to 15 1/2" H x 7 1/2" W. All items late 19th/early 20th century.
CONDITION: 1st item: Minute area of surface wear to upper center; minute inclusions under glass. 2nd item: Overall very good condition. Frame with scattered losses. 3rd item: Minute inclusions under glass. Sight edge of frame is warped and partially detached. 4th-5th items: Scattered minor wear to edges of portrait of Madame de Pompadour. 6th item: Scattered areas of water damage evident to left edge, largest measuring 1/2" x 1/4". Frame with scattered minor losses.
