Pair of English Joshua Child Percussion Pistols, .50 caliber. Lockplate stamped "Josh Child" with scrolling engravings throughout including to lockplate, top of barrel, breechblock, tang, ramrod holder, trigger guard, and oval escutcheon inlaid to butt, trigger guard tangs with pineapple finials, one with German silver inlaid band with line engravings to butt. Walnut stocks with checkered grips, octagonal barrels with inlaid gold and silver bands to breech, checked hammers with fish engravings, bead front sights, open rear sights, swivel ramroads. Barrel length: 8 1/2". Overall length: 14". Early 19th century.
CONDITION: Both in overall good condition with scattered dings to barrels. Stocks with storage dings, one with 1" area of loss, above German silver band to butt and 1 1/2" area of natural age shrinkage to forearm near ramrod. One pistol with missing inlaid German silver band to butt. Bores with no visible rifling. Action holds at full and half cock for both pistols.
