Civil War Era Union Infantry Officer's sash consisting of crimson worsted wool with rope tassels. Paper tag affixed to one end with pencil attribution "Tyler Mix Illinois Reg" (may refer to past owner, not a soldier). Overall length: 95" L.
PROVENANCE: Private Virginia collection; acquired in Nashville in the 1970s.
CONDITION: Scattered losses/fraying, largest area measuring 1 1/8" x 1 3/4". Discoloration throughout commensurate with age.
