Reuterdahl and one (1) photograph of the USS John Hood, 3 items total. 1st item: Lithograph poster titled "Invest in the Victory Liberty Loan/They Keep the Sea Lanes Open", art by Leon Alaric Shafer (American, 1866-1940), published by The W. F. Powers Co. Litho., N. Y. depicting sailors upon an emerging submarine approaching a steamship with a larger ship in the background. Pencil inscription "Dup LN 237" lower right. Lyzon Nashville framer's sticker, en verso. Housed under glass in a chrome-painted wood frame. Sight: 29" H x 39" W. Frame: 31 1/2" H x 41 1/4" W. Circa 1919. 2nd item: Lithograph poster titled "U. S. Navy – Help Your Country!/Enlist in the Navy", art by Henry Reuterdahl (American, 1871-1925), published by Latham Litho. & Ptg. Co., Brooklyn, NY, courtesy of R. J. Collier, Esq. depicting multiple battleships at sea with a seagull flying in the foreground. This poster specifically advertises for the Navy Recruiting Station at Norfolk. Pencil inscription "Dup LN 236" lower left. Lyzon Nashville framing sticker, en verso. Housed under glass in a wooden frame. Sight: 40 5/8" H x 27 5/8" W. Frame: 44 3/8" H x 31 3/8" W. Circa 1917. 3rd item: One (1) black and white photograph of the high-seas refueling of USS John Hood (DD-655), a Fletcher-class Destroyer, taken by Don Scott YNCS (SS) USN (Ret.) in 1962. Housed and matted under glass in a wooden frame. Sight: 7 3/8" H x 9 3/8" W. Frame: 12 7/8" H x 16 7/8" W. Last quarter 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Some discoloration to paper and creasing including one bisecting the poster. Loss to paper lower right quadrant measuring 1 7/8" H x 2" W. Not examined outside of frame. 2nd item: Some discoloration to paper; creasing and tearing to edges. Loss of paper lower right border measuring 1 7/8" H x 10" W. Not examined outside of frame. 3rd item: Overall very good condition. Not examined outside of frame.
