Edouard Manet (French/Paris, 1832-1883), two etchings. 1st item: Etching titled "Charles Baudelaire, de Face" on ivory laid paper, signed by Manet in the plate lower right along with the inscriptions 'Peint et Grave par Manet 1865' in lower left corner and 'Imp. A. Salmon' lower right. Housed in a contemporary carved gilt frame. Plate – 3 1/4" H x 3 3/4" W. Sight – 4 1/2" H x 4" W. Framed – 14 3/4" H x 12 1/2" W. Circa 1869. 2nd item: Etching titled "Portrait of Charles Baudelaire" on ivory laid paper, signed by Manet in the plate upper left with a stylized M along with the inscriptions 'Peint et Grave par Manet 1862' in lower left corner and 'Imp. A. Salmon' lower right. Housed in a contemporary gilt wood frame. Plate – 4 1/8" H x 3 3/8" W. Sight – 5 1/4" H x 4 1/2" H. Framed – 17 3/4" H x 15" W. Last half 19th century. Provenance: Middle Tennessee private collection. Note: accompanied by loan documents from museum exhibition at The Dixon Gallery and Gardens, Memphis, 1986. CONDITION: Both overall very good condition.
