George III style Butler's Secretary, first quarter 20th century, mahogany with deal (pine) secondary wood, two-piece construction. Top with molded cornice over a frieze with crossbanded edges and two glazed doors, both with pointed arch mullions and crossbanded edges, enclosing three adjustable shelves; the back lined with fabric. Lower case with pull-out, fall front desk section fitted with four lighter, contrasting wood veneered drawers and prospect door, and ten open cubby holes; leather covered writing surface. Three graduated dovetailed drawers, each with crossbanded edges and rectangular bail pulls having shaped corners, atop a molded base and bracket feet. Plain sides. 90 1/2" H x 43 1/4" W x 19" D. CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Left side door has two 1/4" chips, one to left edge and one to lower edge, losses to veneer at lower edges of front bracket feet, small stains, scuffs and abrasions. Brasses original. Small drawer sides are plywood.
