Carl Sublett (TN, 1919-2008) landscape watercolor titled CRUCIFIED TREE, depicting a leafless tree with a pylon of the Gay street bridge in the background. This bridge spans the Tennessee river in Knoxville TN. Signed lower right and titled en verso. Housed in a gilt wood frame. Sight: 18 1/2" H x 25" W. Framed: 24 1/8" H x 30 7/8" W x 1 3/4" D. Biography: Carl Sublett (1919 -2008) studied Art History at the American Academy in Florence, Italy after World War II, and became Professor of Fine Art at the University of Tennessee. Sublett was a member of the National Academy of Design. His works are in the collections of the National Academy of Design, The Tennessee State Museum, and Cheekwood Museum of Art, Nashville.
