Grouping of thirty-two (32) World War I era trench art items, 36 items total. 1st-5th items: Five (5) decorative items made from brass artillery shells, including one (1) fitted as a lamp with one (1) Tiffany-style glass and bronze shade in shades of grey, two (2) bud vases monogrammed with script "CB" (not photographed), one (1) columnar form vase, and one (1) decorative hanging with one (1) wooden wall mount, all with repousse decorations including a mermaid, flowers, branches, human figures, insects, and stars. Ranging in size from 3 7/8" H x 1 3/4" dia. to 30 3/4" H x 3 3/4" dia. Shade: 7 3/4" H x 13" square. 6th-32nd items: Twenty-two (22) knives or letter openers, two (2) spoons, two (2) forks, and one (1) piece of shrapnel, 27 items total, comprised of silver plate, brass, copper, and steel, all having shrapnel handles. Six (6) knives with German Iron Cross decorations, three (3) knives with inscriptions dated 1911-1915 to blades. Includes two (2) black leatherette cases, one (1) with German Iron Cross to hinged lid. Ranging in size from 4 3/8" to 15 3/8" L. Cases: 1" H x 7 3/4" W x 5 7/8" D to 1 1/2" H x 10 3/4" W x 5" D. All items first quarter 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: All items in overall good condition. 1st-5th items: Dents, oxidation to be expected from age and manner of use. Lamp functional at time of inspection. 6th-32nd items: Some items with pitting to blades. Cases with expected wear, minor losses to leatherette, primarily to corners.
