Paul Marcel Balmigere (French, 1882-1953) oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a cliffside town set against the ocean. Signed P Balmigere lower left. Housed in a carved composition frame. Sight – 23" H x 31 1/4" W. Framed – 30 3/4" H x 39" W. Biography: (courtesy Askart: The Artists' Bluebook): Born in Candies, France in 1882, Paul Marcel Balmigere is known primarily for his landscape and cityscape paintings. He was a pupil of Francois Flameng and Adolphe Déchenaud. Balmigere exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris from 1927-1938 and at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1927-1939, receiving an honorable mention in 1930, a silver medal in 1935 and the prize awarded by the Société des Paysagistes Français (Society of French Landscape Artists) in 1938. CONDITION: Overall good condition. Areas of in painting right of bell tower.
