1st item: Mexican-American War Cavalry Sash, comprised of gold silk, terminating in gold silk net with tassels at each end. 130" L x 6" W. 2nd item: Civil War musket cap box. Brown leather, single stitched, with a brass numeral "1" affixed to shield-shaped exterior flap having a tab closure and brass finial that opens to reveal a lunate interior flap over a single interior compartment. Two straps to reverse of exterior. Unmarked. 3 3/4" H x 3 1//2" W x 1 1/2" D. 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Property of the Lincoln County Museum, Fayetteville, TN; Bequest of Mary Bright Wilson (1909-2004), formerly of Fayetteville, and descended in her family.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall very good condition with expected light staining, few areas of very light fraying, pulls to silk. 2nd item: Leather is dry and cracked, tear to tab closure.
