Russell May (Kentucky, 1921-1990) oil on canvas panoramic mountain scene titled MOUNTAIN ROAD depicting a mountain cabin homestead with river valley and mountains in the background. Biography: (Courtesy of AskArt) Russell May was born in Floyd County, Kentucky and resided in Floyd County until his death. May was a successful business man in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, who also ran a sign painting business. He also painted well known advertising on barns across the Kentucky landscape. May began a second career painting landscapes in oils in the late 1960's. By 1973 he had sold the sign shop and opened May Art Gallery. He was a founding member of the Kentucky Heritage Artists. He most loved to paint familiar scenes from Floyd county that were close to home. Condition: Overall very good condition. CONDITION: Overall very good condition.
