Fernand L. Guey (France, 1877-1964) oil on canvas painting of a busy Parisian street with pedestrians and horse-drawn carriages in the foreground. In the distance the spire of Notre-Dame Cathedral rises into the sky. Signed "F. Guey," lower right. With sticker affixed to verso identifying the location as the intersection of Rue de la Bucherie and Rue Frederic Sauton, with the trees of the Quai de Montebello just visible behind the carriage at right. Housed in a speckled giltwood frame with ivory fabric mat. Sight: 20 1/2" H x 11 1/2" W. Frame: 27 3/8" H x 18 1/2" W.
CONDITION: Painting in very good condition, with craquelure throughout and pinpoint abrasion to lower right corner. Frame with wear and gilt loss, primarily to edges, and faint liquid stain to fabric mat, upper right.
