Scarce miniature American 25-Star Parade Flag, printed gauze cloth measuring 1 1/2" x 2" x 1 5/8" on a straw pole with minuscule brass cap, 3 3/4" H, circa 1837. Note: The 25-Star American Flag became the official United States Flag on July 4th, 1836. A star was added for the admission of the State of Arkansas (June 15th, 1836), and was to last for just one year. Two United States Presidents served under this Flag: Andrew Jackson (1829-1837) and Martin Van Buren (1837-1841). Provenance: private Middle Tennessee collection, acquired from Madison, Wisconsin area.
CONDITION: Light fading; vertical run through fabric likely as made, overall very good condition for a piece so fragile and ephemeral in nature.
