Extremely scarce World War II United States propaganda poster featuring world heavyweight champion boxer Joe Louis. Louis is depicted wearing a helmet and soldier's uniform and holding a gun with bayonet, reading "Pvt. Joe Louis says – 'We're going to do our part….and we'll win because we're on God's side". Published by the U.S. Government Printing Office, 1942. Unframed. 40" H x 28 1/2" W. Note: Louis was the heavyweight champion from 1937-1949 and has been described as the best heavyweight of all time. He is widely regarded as the first person of African American descent to achieve the status of a nationwide hero within the United States and was also a focal point of anti-Nazi sentiment leading up to and during World War II.
