British School, manner of William Henry Watson (1831-1921), oil on canvas pastoral painting of a pony and four sheep on a rural hillside, with two more sheep visible in the distance at right. Illegibly signed and dated 18[7?]3, lower left. With inscription to back of stretcher reading "Caelt" along with "CG" inventory sticker, likely in reference to the Caelt Gallery, London. Housed in a carved giltwood frame. Sight: 24 1/2" H x 29 1/2" W. Frame: 36" W x 35" H.
CONDITION: Canvas has been lined. Craquelure and minor curling and flaking throughout. Retouching along with areas of inpainting, primarily to sky.
