Fifty (50) Assorted United States Presidential related items and ephemera including pins, buttons, letter, postcards, and playing cards. 1st-2nd items: Two (2) President Rutherford Birchard Hayes and Vice President William Almon Wheeler 1876 campaign woven silk jugate ribbons, both depicting portraits of the candidates surrounded by red, blue, and black lettering against a cream background. B.B. Tilt and Son, New York and New Jersey maker's marks across the top. 3rd-4th items: TLS. One page typed letter from Ronald Reagan, on Pacific Palisades stationary, to Dr. T. T. Swearingen, Texas Association of Christian Churches, Fort Worth, TX, dated November 12, 1964. The letter addresses Reagan's regret at not being able to narrate a film for college fund raising in Texas due to a scheduling conflict. Signed "Ronald" below. Includes one (1) carbon copy of a reply letter from Swearingen, dated November 17, 1964. 5th-27th items: Assorted grouping of twenty-three (23) Presidential campaign buttons and pins, including one (1) President William McKinley and Vice President Garret Augustus Hobart jugate buttonhole pin; one (1) Herbert Clark Hoover pinback button; three (3) President Lyndon Baines Johnson items, two (2) pinback buttons and one (1) lapel pin; ten (10) President Richard Milhous Nixon and Vice President Spiro Agnew pinback buttons; three (3) President Ronald Reagan pinback buttons; three (3) Alfred Mossman Landon and William Franklin Knox items, two (2) pinback buttons and one (1) lapel pin; and two (2) Hubert Humphrey and Edmund Muskie pinback buttons. 28th-50th items: Assorted grouping of twenty-three (23) Presidential related items, including two (2) cartes-de-visite (CDVs), one (1) depicting President George Washington and one (1) depicting President Abraham Lincoln; one (1) President William McKinley metal ashtray; seven (7) President Theodore Roosevelt related postcards; four (4) President Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower and Vice President Richard Milhous Nixon items, one (1) postcard with two (2) affixed pinback buttons and one (1) LP record of their inauguration; five (5) Presidential Ronald and First Lady Nancy Reagan related items, four (4) satirical postcards and one (1) envelope; one (1) Souvenir of the Garfield Memorial, Cleveland, OH postcard; one (1) Portraits of American Presidents from Washington to Grant accordion booklet; and two (2) sets of playing cards, including one unopened set with initials DDE for Dwight David Eisenhower, from The Columbine (the precursor to Air Force One).
CONDITION: 1st-2nd items: Ribbons in overall very good condition, one (1) with a 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" dampstain to top left corner (does not effect portraits). 3rd-4th items: Overall very good, legible condition. 5th-27th items: Overall good condition with general wear, some rust, pitting to metal. 28th-50th items: Paper items in overall good condition with toning, tears, inscriptions from previous owners, and general handling wear to be expected from age and manner of use. Ashtray with scattered areas of pitting.
