Louis Justin Laurent Icart (French, 1888-1950) etching and aquatint with extensive hand coloring, “Peacock.” A woman in a black dress sits beside a large urn on which perches a colorful peacock. Pencil signed to lower right and numbered 262 to lower left. With printed text to upper left margin that reads: “Copyright 1925 by les Graveurs Modernes, 194 rue de Rivoli Paris.” Housed under glass in a giltwood frame. Sight: 24 1/4 in. H x 20 1/4 in. W. Framed: 26 3/8 in. H x 22 3/8 in. W. 1925.
PROVENANCE: Private East Tennessee Collection.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition, with even toning to sheet within sight area. Mat with toning plus minor tideline to lower right. Name examined outside of frame. Frame with negligible abrasions and losses.
