19th century Hudson River School landscape painting, attributed to Thomas Chambers (London, New York, Boston 1808-1866). Forested bluff in the foreground with a figure overlooking the Hudson River with island and sailboats. The painting could possibly be depicting West Point from the south. Unsigned. Later giltwood and ebonized frame. 23" x 31" canvas, 28" x 36" framed. American, 19th century. Provenance: Estate of A. Welling LaGrone Jr., Nashville, Tenn. Condition: Good condition, black light reveals some over-painting, recently cleaned and relined.
