East Tennessee (Greene County) china press, two pieces, walnut primary, poplar secondary. Top section with flat overhanging molded top above two glazed doors, each with six panes and a shelved interior above two drawers. Lower section having four full length graduated dovetailed drawers with the original brasses over a shaped skirt and French feet. 84 5/8" H x 40 1/4" W x 21 1/2" D. Early 19th century. Provenance: East Tennessee collection, formerly of the Richard Doughty Estate, Greeneville, TN estate. CONDITION: Top and base associated. Cornice molding replaced, crack and patched to perimeter of lower case top. Feet reblocked, feet and skirt possibly restored. Three brasses missing from lower drawers. Some sun fading and scattered wear.
