Albert Marie Lebourg (French, 1849-1928) oil on canvas painting depicting the interior of a mosque. Signed upper right corner and dated 1873. Molded giltwood and composition frame with artist name plaque. Label en verso for Berry Hill Galleries, New York. Sight: 17 1/4 in. x 14 1/4 in. Frame: 24 in. H x 21 in. W. Biography: Albert Lebourg studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts of Rouen and with Jean-Paul Laurens, and also trained in an architectural office. He lived in Normandy but traveled frequently throughout Europe and spent several years in Algeria as a drawing teacher for the Beaux Arts Society of Algiers. Lebourg joined the Impressionist group early on, appearing twice in the group’s shows in 1879 and 1880, and continued to exhibit at the Salon from 1883 until 1895.

CONDITION:
Painting overall very good condition with some craquelure; UV light inspection shows some infill painting to some areas of craquelure. Frame has several spots of wear and minor losses to gilt surface. Nameplate missing a screw.
