Jean Francois Theodore Gechter (France, 1796-1844) bronze sculpture depicting the early church reformer Martin Luther. The subject is depicted standing wearing a robe and holding a book in his right hand which is leaning on a stool with additional books. Signed along the front side of the base "T. GECHTER.". Fitted with a custom ebonized circular wood stand. 13 3/4" H x 8 1/4" W. 18 7/8" total H. 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Property of a Tennessee Religious Institution.
CONDITION: Bronze overall very good condition with a few slight abrasions. Stand with light wear and losses.
