George Kovach (b. 1942) oil on board landscape titled "Autumn Splendor" depicting a tree with fiery orange leaves beside a stream and mountains in the background. Signed "G. Kovach" lower right and titled en verso. Coarse linen liner and molded stained wood frame. 10 1/4" x 13 1/3" sight, 17" x 20" framed. Biography: Hungarian-born George Kovach graduated from the Art Institute of Miami and became a full-time artist in 1972. A founding member of the Texas Cowboy Artist Association, George was awarded a gold medallion three years consecutively for best oil painting. In 1976, at the request of Governor Dolph Briscoe, George represented Texas for the State's Cultural Achievements during the Bi-Centennial celebrations in Philadelphia. He has worked as an illustrator and his work has been commissioned by AMCAL for calendars, note cards and Christmas cards. (Source: Askart). Provenance: estate of D.L. Collins, Abilene, Texas.
