German KPM hand painted porcelain plaque, titled en verso Kunst Bringt Gunst (Art Brings Favor), after the painting by Friedrich Paul Thurmann (German, 1834-1908). Depicts a Classical interior scene of a male artisan painting an amphora urn, as a female admirer watches from the doorway. Signed lower right "Wagner". Impressed KPM and KPM orb mark en verso along with the numbers 215-145 and old label remnants. Housed in a carved Rococo style gilt frame with green velvet matte. Plaque – 8 1/2" H x 5 3/4" W. Late 19th century. Provenance: Private Maryville, TN collection. CONDITION: Plaque overall very good condition. Matte partially obscures signature. Frame with minor abrasions, overall good condition.
