Cherokee carved cherry wood turtle with incised details on the shell, by Gilbert Crowe (1938-2005). Signed and dated, "Gil. Crowe 1971," to underside. 2 3/4" H x 5 1/2" W x 3 1/4" D. Note: Gilbert Crowe was a student of prominent carvers Going Back Chiltosky and Amanda Crowe at the Qualla School.
PROVENANCE: Private East Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition with slight age wear on the base of the turtle's feet.
