Group of two (2) Native American Chitimacha rivercane baskets, including one (1) Faye Stouff (Chitimacha and American, active mid-20th century) small square sifting basket, signed and dated on the base “Faye Stouff 1977”, and one (1) basket in the “little fish” and “cow’s eye” pattern with red and brown dyed weavers, signed and dated on the base “Chief Emille & Faye Stouff, 1976″. Ranging in size from 2 3/4″ H x 10″ W to 5″ H x 10 3/4″ W. Both baskets 20th century. Note: Faye Stouff was married to Emile Stouff, who was Chief of the Chitimachas of Charenton, Louisiana, from 1948 to 1968.
CONDITION: Sifting basket with minor wear to one area of rim, approx. 2”. 2nd basket overall good condition.
