Group of Native American Prints including McKenney & Hall lithographs after Charles Bird King. 1st and 2nd item: MCKENNEY & HALL, F.W. GREENOUGH, 1836, KEE SHES WA / A FOX CHIEF and MAR KO ME TE / A MENOMENE BRAVE, two hand colored lithographs, verso with accompanying folio of text; drawn, printed and colored at J.T. BowenâÃöâÃâÂ¥s Lithographic Establishment, Philadelphia, published by F.W. Greenough, Philadelphia, 1836, from McKenney & Hall, History of the Indian Tribes of North America, 1793-1868. Framed under glass in stained molded frames. Sight – 18 1/2" h x 13 1/2" w. Framed – 20 3/4" h x 15" w. 3rd through 6th items: 4 framed hand colored lithographs with accompanying folio of text en verso, from the McKenney & Hall quarto edition, printed and colored at J.T. BowenâÃöâÃâÂ¥s Lithographic Establishment, Philadelphia, published by D. Rice and A.N. Hart, 1855. Subjects include STUM – A-NU / A FLAT HEAD BOY; HAYNE HUDJIHINI (female); MO-HON-GO / AN OSAGE WOMAN (with child) and CHON-MON-I-CASE / AN OTTO HALF CHIEF. Sight- 9 1/4"H x 6 3/8"W. Framed – 16"H x 13"W. Framed under glass with dark blue and ivory double mats and narrow molded stained wood frames. 7th item: THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS, steel engraving depicting a Native American camp site beside a river after the painting by Worthington Whitteredge, printed by D. Appleton c. 1871 for the book PICTURESQUE AMERICA. Framed under glass with ivory mat and narrow wood frame. Sight – 9 1/2" x 5 3/4". Frame – 10 1/2" x 14 1/4".
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Camille Gift, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: All items overall very good condition with light toning. The smaller prints have some scattered discoloration and minor stains, especially on Chon Mon I Case. Scattered light wear to frames. Not examined out of frame.
