Russian Icon plus sterling silver book cover, 2 items total. 1st item: Russian Icon of a saint, possibly St. Nicholas, tempera on wood panel with silverplated riza and gilt metal halo. Unmarked. 7" H x 5 1/2" W, housed in a gilt frame and hinged box with metal inlay, 2" H x 10" W x 8 3/4" D. 2nd item: Sterling silver book cover, one pierced repousse panel ornamented with flowers, cherubs, scrolls and birds. The central cartouche monogrammed with elaborate and illegible three part monogram; pinned to a burlwood cover backed with velvet, 12" x 8 3/4". Marked Black Starr & Frost Sterling. CONDITION: 1st item: Significant wear to silverplating, halo is loose. 2nd item: Burlwood panel has several small shrinkage cracks; a couple of silver tips have minor bends. Only one cover is present.
