German hand painted porcelain plaque depicting the goddess Diana with a lion, after the painting by Angelo Comte de Courten (Italian 1848-1925). Plaque depicts the draped deity holding an arrow with a quiver around her waist and embracing a lion reclining on a plinth. Signed lower right, ìF. Beckî (sp?). Impressed marks en verso with numbers, letter code and scepter-like mark, possibly KPM. Housed in a contemporary gilt wood frame. Plaque – 7.5? x 10? Framed – 12″ H x 14 1/4″ W. Circa 1900. Provenance: Crossville, TN collection. Condition: Overall excellent condition, blacklighting does not reveal any inpainting or restoration. Small in the firing indention on the right side background.
