Two abstract cubist oil on canvas paintings by Lilli Palmer (1914-1986). 1st item: "Spanische Landschaft III" (Spanish Landscape 3), titled in German en verso, signed and dated Palmer '72. 35-1/2" x 21-1/2" sight, 36-1/2" x 22-1/2" framed. 2nd item: Untitled abstract painting, signed "L" and titled Oct/64 en verso. 38" x 15" sight, 39" x 16" framed. Both with whitewashed wood frames. Biography: The daughter of German surgeon and an Austrian actress, both Jewish, Lilli Palmer fled Nazi Germany in 1932 and went to Paris, where she became a dancer at the Moulin Rouge. She moved to America after her 1943 marraige to actor Rex Harrison and continued careers in both acting and painting. She exhibited mainly in Europe, including at the Arthur Tooth Gallery in London, where these works were acquired. Condition: 1st item: three 1/4" flakes in upper center and lower center. 2nd item: Light scratching to a 3" area at the lower center edge of the canvas.
