Italian plant stand by Carlo Bugatti (1856-1940, Italy), comprised of ebonized and inlaid wood, hammered copper designs, and painted vellum. Painted vellum scenes include leaf and floral designs with the back panel depicting painted butterflies and the front panel depicting a young female. 17 3/4″ W x 17 1/2″ D x 45 1/2″ H. Examples of similar forms: Carlo Bugatti au Musee d’Orsay, Masse, pg. 87 Carlo-Rembrandt-Ettore-Jean Bugatti, Dejean, pg. 90 Bugatti, Hawley, pg. Circa 1902. Provenance: A.R. Dickey Estate, Knoxville, TN Condition: Overall very good condition with an age separation of the base shelf wood, copper design wraps on legs with some slack, light wear to painted vellum designs in a couple of areas. Stand height of 45 1/2″ and inspection of bases of feet indicate no loss of height.
