Two (2) Robert Prowse (American, 1858-1934) watercolor and gouache on board cover art illustrations for the Buffalo Bill Library, Nickel Weekly novels, by Prentiss Ingraham, published by Street and Smith, New York, circa 1902-18. Includes: one (1) for RED EAGLE ON THE WARPATH, No. 62 and one for YELLOW SERPENT, No. 672. Both signed with inital "R.P." lower right, No. 62 dated "13." No. 672 with additional inscriptions, top and bottom margins. Both items housed and matted under glass in wooden frames. No. 62: Sight: 10 5/8" H x 8" W, Framed: 16 3/4" H x 13 1/2" W. No. 672: Sight: 13 3/4" H x 9 3/4" W, Sight: 18 1/2" H x 14 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Michael Janton, Findlay, Ohio.
CONDITION: Both items not examined outside of frame, exposed areas of margins with toning, pinprick holes, general handling wear to be expected from manner of use.
